Built-In Grills for Custom Outdoor Kitchens
A built-in grill creates a permanent cooking station within an outdoor kitchen, patio island, or custom BBQ setup. DDR BBQ Supply’s current collection focuses on Napoleon built-in gas grills, with options ranging from a compact 32-inch grill head to larger 38- and 44-inch models and the twin-head Prestige PRO 825. The collection also includes a built-in dual infrared burner for adding a dedicated searing station.
Built-in grills differ from freestanding models because the grill head is installed directly into a properly constructed outdoor kitchen enclosure. Before ordering, confirm the grill dimensions, required cutout, ventilation, fuel type, clearances, and any electrical requirements with your outdoor-kitchen plans.
Compare 32-, 38- and 44-Inch Built-In Grills
The right grill size depends on available counter space, how many people you typically cook for, and how many cooking zones you want available at once.
- Napoleon Built-In 500 Series 32: Features four main burners plus an infrared rear burner, 66,000 BTU, 760 square inches of total cooking area, stainless steel WAVE grates, and propane or natural gas configurations.
- Napoleon Built-In 700 Series 32: Provides four main burners plus an infrared rear burner in a 32-inch grill head, with 531 square inches of main cooking space and approximately 756 square inches total.
- Napoleon Built-In 700 Series 38: Increases capacity to five main burners plus an infrared rear burner, 78,000 BTU, and 630 square inches of main cooking space.
- Napoleon Built-In 700 Series 44: Uses six main burners plus dual infrared rear burners, delivering 108,000 BTU across 765 square inches of main cooking space.
- Napoleon Prestige PRO 825: Uses a twin-head built-in design with nine burners, 106,000 BTU, 825 square inches of main cooking area, infrared searing and rear rotisserie burners, and an integrated smoker burner.
A larger grill does more than increase capacity. Additional burners make it easier to create separate direct and indirect heat zones for steaks, vegetables, chicken, roasts, and foods that require different cooking temperatures.
Propane vs. Natural Gas Built-In Grills
DDR BBQ Supply’s current built-in Napoleon models are offered in both propane and natural gas configurations.
Choose your fuel type before installation:
- Propane built-in grills are useful when your outdoor kitchen is supplied by LP.
- Natural gas built-in grills connect to a properly installed natural gas supply and eliminate the need to replace propane cylinders.
Do not assume a grill can simply be switched between fuel types after purchase. Choose the model configured for your planned gas supply and follow the manufacturer’s installation requirements.
Browse Built-In Propane Grills or Built-In Natural Gas Grills when you already know which fuel source your outdoor kitchen will use.
Infrared Burners, Rotisserie Cooking & Searing
Several Napoleon built-in grills in this collection include infrared rear burners intended for rotisserie cooking. The larger 44-inch 700 Series adds dual infrared rear burners for broader rotisserie heat across its wider cooking surface.
The collection also includes the Napoleon Built-In 700 Series Dual Infrared Burner, a separate drop-in cooking station with two ceramic infrared burners and approximately 30,000 BTU. It can be installed alongside a primary grill when you want a dedicated high-heat searing area for steaks, seafood, vegetables, and other foods.
This burner is an outdoor-kitchen component rather than a replacement for a complete grill head.
Plan the Grill Before Building the Island
Built-in grills require more installation planning than freestanding grills. Before countertops, cabinets, stonework, or other permanent materials are finalized, verify:
- Exact grill model and fuel type
- Manufacturer-specified cutout dimensions
- Required ventilation and clearances
- Gas supply location
- Electrical requirements for lights or accessories
- Access for maintenance and gas connections
- Compatible rotisserie kits, burners, and outdoor-kitchen components
For example, the Napoleon Built-In 700 Series 38 requires a specific built-in installation and is offered in propane or natural gas versions, while the Prestige PRO 825 uses a much larger twin-head format with a 52.375-inch-wide specified cutout.
