This 30-inch round grill grate is designed to handle everything from burgers and steaks to briskets, pork shoulders, Dutch ovens, and cast iron cookware. The open design promotes proper airflow while providing a sturdy cooking surface for wood-fired and charcoal cooking.
Because the grate is unframed, it drops directly onto existing support ledges, fire pit rings, or grate supports found in many round grills, smokers, and fire pits.
Seasoning & CareBefore first use, season the grate with a high-smoke-point cooking oil and heat it thoroughly. After each cook, brush the grate clean while warm and apply a light coat of oil to help minimize surface oxidation. As with all raw steel cooking grates, periodic maintenance and seasoning are recommended.
What material is used for this grill grate?
This grate is fabricated from 3/16-inch thick A36 food-grade steel, providing excellent durability and heat resistance for grilling and BBQ applications.
What is the finished thickness of the grate?
Round grill grates are cut from 3/16-inch A36 steel and are not framed. The material thickness is 3/16 inch.
Do you offer stainless steel grill grates?
No. We currently fabricate our custom grill grates using A36 steel.
Can this grate be used in a fire pit?
Yes. This grate works well as a cooking grate for fire pits, charcoal grates, smoker grates, and custom outdoor cooking projects.
Will this fit my grill or smoker?
This grate measures 30 inches in diameter. Customers are responsible for verifying measurements before ordering. DDR BBQ Supply cannot determine the required grate size for third-party grills or smokers.
Is the grate welded?
No. Round grates are plasma cut as a single solid piece and are not framed.
How do I prevent rust?
Keep the grate seasoned with cooking oil, store it in a dry location when possible, and re-season periodically. Light surface oxidation is normal on raw steel and can be removed through cleaning and re-seasoning.
How long does fabrication take?
Because every grate is cut to order, fabrication typically takes 1-2 weeks before shipment.
