What is the thickness of the grates?
Built using 3/16" thick A36 steel and framed for strength and durability. Finished grate thickness is approximately 0.5" (1/2 inch).
What steel do you use?
A36 food-grade steel - widely used in BBQ pits, smokers, and grilling applications for its strength, durability, and ability to withstand high cooking temperatures.
Do you offer stainless steel grates?
No. At this time, only A36 food-grade steel.
How long does it take to receive my grate?
Every grate is cut to order; please allow approximately 1 to 2 weeks for fabrication before shipment.
Can I use these grates in a smoker firebox?
Yes. Commonly used as replacement firebox grates, smoker grates, charcoal grates, and cooking grates for offset smokers and custom BBQ pits.
Are the grates welded for strength?
Yes. Framed and welded for added rigidity and durability, helping prevent warping under high heat.
Can I order for a custom-built smoker or grill?
Absolutely. Commonly used in DIY smoker builds, custom BBQ pits, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, and grill restoration projects.
Do I need to season my custom grill grate?
Yes. Season before first use - a thin coat of cooking oil plus heat creates a protective layer and improves cooking performance.
Will the grate rust?
Like any carbon steel surface, A36 can develop surface rust if exposed to moisture. Regular seasoning and proper storage protect it and extend lifespan.
How do I measure for a replacement grill grate?
Measure the length and width of the opening where the grate will sit. For best fit, measure the existing grate if available and verify dimensions before ordering. We cannot tell you the size you need - that's for the customer to provide.
