Can this grate be used as a replacement for another brand?
Yes. As long as your current smoker, firebox, or grill can accommodate a 23.8" L x 17.5" W x 1/2" thick grate, this grate can be used as a replacement. Many customers use our grates in offset smokers, custom pits, and backyard cookers. Always measure your existing grate and available space before ordering.
Is this grate safe for direct food contact?
Yes. It is fabricated from A36 carbon steel and can be used as a cooking surface when properly cleaned and seasoned before use.
Can it support cast iron cookware?
Absolutely. The heavy-duty framed and welded construction is designed to support Dutch ovens, cast iron skillets, griddles, and other heavy cookware.
How should I clean and maintain it?
Clean the grate after cooking to remove food and buildup, then apply a light coating of cooking oil. Regular seasoning helps protect the carbon steel from rust and keeps the cooking surface ready for your next cook.
What type of steel is used?
Our custom grill grates are fabricated from durable A36 carbon steel. The grate uses 3/16-inch steel plate with framed construction, resulting in an approximately 1/2-inch finished thickness.
Do you offer stainless steel grates?
No. We currently manufacture our custom grill grates exclusively from A36 carbon steel.
Do you make custom sizes?
Yes. If you need a grill grate size that is not currently listed, contact us with your required dimensions for a custom quote.
How long do grates take to ship?
Allow 1–2 weeks from the date of purchase for shipment. Every grate is cut to order.
How do I measure for a replacement grill grate?
Use a tape measure to determine the exact length and width of the grate you need. Also measure the available space inside your smoker, grill, or firebox to make sure the 23.8" x 17.5" dimensions will fit your application. Please verify your measurements carefully before ordering. We are not responsible if the wrong size is ordered.
I need a different size. What do I do?
If you need a size that is not listed, please contact us at info@ddrbbqsupply.com with the dimensions of the grate you'd like to order, and we will send you a link to that size grate.
Will you replace the grate for free if I order the wrong size?
No. All grates are custom cut to order, and we will not replace grates for free if the wrong size is ordered. Please carefully verify your measurements before placing your order.

With over 35 years of smoking experience, we started DDR BBQ Supply with a simple goal: to help others cook better barbecue. We've spent decades learning what works and what doesn't, and we apply that knowledge to every product we carry. From high-performance grills and smokers to carefully selected rubs, sauces, and tools, everything we offer is something we believe in and use ourselves. We don’t believe in cutting corners or selling gear we wouldn’t rely on during our own backyard cooks and when we compete in BBQ competitions.
