What is the thickness of the grate?
The grate is fabricated from 3/16-inch A36 steel plate and framed to create a finished assembled thickness of approximately 1/2 inch.

We manufacture all custom grill grates from heavy-duty A36 food-grade carbon steel for outstanding strength, durability, and heat resistance.
Do you offer stainless steel grill grates?
No. We currently manufacture our custom grill grates exclusively from A36 carbon steel.
Can this grate be used as a replacement for another brand?
Yes. As long as your smoker, grill, or firebox accepts a grate measuring 14.5" L x 14" W x 1/2" Thick, it can be used as a replacement. Many customers use our grates in Old Country BBQ Pits, Myron Mixon Smokers, and custom-built pits.
Is this grate safe for direct food contact?
Yes. Our A36 steel grill grates are suitable for direct food contact when properly seasoned before use.
Can this grate support cast iron cookware?
Absolutely. The framed and fully welded construction easily supports Dutch ovens, cast iron skillets, griddles, and other heavy cookware.
Can I use this grate inside a firebox?
Yes. These grates are commonly used as replacement firebox grates, charcoal grates, smoker grates, and cooking grates.
How should I season my new grill grate?
Apply a thin coat of high-smoke-point cooking oil and heat the grate through several cooking cycles before regular use. Reseason as needed to maintain the surface.
How do I prevent rust?
Keep the grate clean, lightly coated with cooking oil, and stored in a dry environment. Light surface oxidation is normal for carbon steel and can easily be removed before reseasoning.
Do you make custom sizes?
Yes. We fabricate custom grill grates in virtually any size. Contact us if you need dimensions different from those listed.
Can you determine what size grate my smoker needs?
No. Customers are responsible for providing the exact measurements required. We cannot determine the correct grate size for your smoker or grill.
How long does shipping take?
Please allow approximately 1-2 weeks from the order date for fabrication and shipping since every grate is cut to order.
