The grate is fabricated from 3/16-inch-thick A36 steel and fully framed for strength and rigidity. The finished assembled thickness is approximately 1/2 inch.
What Steel Do You Use?We use A36 food-grade carbon steel for our custom grill grates and firebox grates.
Do You Offer Stainless Steel Grates?No. We currently only offer custom grates manufactured from A36 food-grade carbon steel.
Can This Grate Be Used as a Replacement Grate?Yes. As long as your grill, smoker, firebox, or pit can accommodate a 15.8" L x 10.5" W grate, it can be used as a replacement. Customers commonly use our grates in offset smokers, custom-built pits, charcoal cookers, and other outdoor cooking equipment.
Can This Grate Be Used in a Firebox?Yes. Customers use our grates as replacement firebox grates, charcoal grates, smoker grates, and cooking grates.
Is This Grate Safe for Direct Food Contact?Yes. A36 food-grade steel is safe for cooking when properly cleaned and seasoned before use.
Can It Support Cast Iron Cookware?Yes. This heavy-duty framed grate is designed to support Dutch ovens, cast iron skillets, and large cuts of meat.

Should I Season the Grate Before Use?Yes. We recommend seasoning the grate with a high-smoke-point cooking oil before its first use and periodically thereafter.
How Do I Prevent Rust?Keep the grate dry when it is not in use, apply a light coating of oil after cleaning, and re-season it as needed. Light surface oxidation is normal for raw carbon steel and can be removed before re-seasoning.
How Do I Determine the Size Grate I Need?Carefully measure your existing grate opening and confirm the exact dimensions required before ordering. DDR BBQ Supply cannot determine the correct grate size for third-party grills or smokers.
How Long Do Grates Take to Ship?Because every grate is custom cut to order, please allow approximately 1–2 weeks for fabrication before shipment.
How Do I Measure?Use a tape measure to determine the exact length and width of the grate you need. Verify your measurements and make sure you order the correct size. We are not responsible if you order the wrong size for your needs.
I Need a Different Size. What Do I Do?If you need a size that is not listed, contact us at info@ddrbbqsupply.com with the exact dimensions of the grate you need. We will send you a link to order that size.
Will You Replace the Grate for Free if I Order the Wrong Size?No. All grates are custom cut to order, and we cannot replace a grate for free if the wrong size is ordered. Please confirm your measurements carefully before completing your purchase.
What Is the Grate Made From?The grate is constructed from 3/16-inch A36 carbon steel plate and reinforced with a welded frame. Its finished assembled thickness is approximately 1/2 inch.
