What type of steel is used?
All of our custom grill grates are fabricated from heavy-duty A36 carbon steel, which provides excellent durability and heat resistance for BBQ applications.
Can this grate be used for direct food contact?
Yes. After proper seasoning, this grate is safe for direct food contact and designed for cooking applications.
Can it support cast iron cookware?
Absolutely. The framed steel construction provides excellent strength and easily supports Dutch ovens, cast iron skillets, and heavy cuts of meat.
How do I season the grate?
Apply a thin coating of a high-smoke-point cooking oil and heat the grate until the oil bonds to the surface. Repeat as needed to maintain protection and performance.
How do I prevent rust?
Keep the grate dry when not in use, re-season periodically, and store your cooker covered. Light surface oxidation is normal for carbon steel and can be removed with brushing and re-seasoning.
