What types of chicken cuts is Hen Drench best for?

It works great for whole chickens, thighs, drumsticks, wings, and spatchcocked birds. It's also excellent for prepping chicken ahead of grilling or smoking.

What’s the recommended brine ratio?

Mix 1 cup of Hen Drench with 4 cups of liquid. You can increase or decrease the liquid depending on the level of seasoning and size of the bird.

How long should I brine my chicken?

For whole chickens, brine for 8–12 hours. For smaller cuts like thighs or wings, 2–4 hours is typically enough.

Can I use this brine in BBQ competitions?

Yes—Hen Drench is designed for both backyard BBQ and competition use. It’s trusted by competitive teams for consistent, flavorful results.

Should I rinse the chicken after brining?

That’s optional. Some pitmasters do a quick rinse and pat dry before cooking to control surface saltiness. Others go straight from brine to smoker.
